An update from a fellow missionary…

From Ken Joseph (Missionary in Japan) Dear All, Today the team took supplies to Ishinomaki which is one of the most devastated areas of the Sendai. We first went to find out if the Ishinomaki Eiko Kyokai was all right and to deliver supplies to them. We found a Church with no water, no gas, no telephone service and it was snowing. It was truly hearbreaking to meet with the Pastor and his wife and some of the Church people. Out of 35 members they have only been able to account for five. They took us to the part of town facing the ocean and it was an unbelievable sight with literally nothing left of the waterfront part of the town. It looked like Hiroshima after the war with small groups of people walking around in stunned silence trying to figure out where their homes were. Everywhere there were cars that had been dragged by the Tsunami and droppped haphazardly everywhere, often piled upon each other. Then the highlight of the day was tracking down a man who had been missing for the past five days and thought gone and we found him. The day ended with a meeting of the various Christian groups working in Sendai, discussing how to work together, how to share supplies and volunteers and more.

Here’s a video they posted of the local Christians in that area networking and planning how to help and send relief…
