A Mother’s Day to Remember

Its hard to believe that this happened a month ago now (and that I never actually posted about it), but now as the next one approaches this weekend we covet prayers for God to gather His people, feed His people, and refresh His people.

This coming Sunday is our second ever Celebrate! Grove Park group

It wasn’t exactly a day to celebrate being a mother.

But it celebrated life as a mother in the life God has placed me in.

Which is the way I would want it.

There was much to be done both Saturday and Sunday to prepare for our first Celebrate! Grove Park where people from all over the neighborhood who are involved in Shalom City or Restore Life came together for a Mother’s Day feast (the only one that many women from our community would be “treated” to) and a night of praise and worship and preaching about God’s story of Redemption.

It was a mother’s day to remember. The dawn of a reconciling, restorative story of redemption in a community whose story has long been one of devastation, and discord…but always a story coupled with hope-filled, against-all-odds prayers.

And the evening ended with our living room laden with sound equipment, leftover paper products and miscellaneous supplies.  Weary bodies but soaring hearts marked the end of a mothers day to remember….

The first of Shalom City’s Grove Park Community Church Celebration…led by the community and for the community, for the transformation of community.
