About

What is “Shalom” anyway? And what is this blog about?

Shalom Means Peace … And So Much More. Shalom is the Hebrew word for holistic peace — peace that permeates every aspect of our lives and our being. It is a word used throughout scripture to describe the absolute joy, flourishing, fulfillment, and bliss found in the presence of God. It also conveys the beautiful, interdependent relationships that God’s people eternally share with Him, each other, and all of creation.

Nothing Broken… Nothing Missing… The way things are supposed to be. Shalom is what has come into the world through Christ, and is made complete when Christ returns and fully eradicates sin and death forever. God is glorified as Shalom happens. We have a mission as God’s people to discover and display the Shalom of God’s Kingdom to this hurting world by faithfully proclaiming the Gospel in WORD and DEED as we share life with our neighbors. This blog documents one Kingdom Family’s journey to Shalom…

A Surprise Trip to San Diego

This post is a continuation (post #1) of A Watchman on the Walls, so read that if you want to know what is going on. My incredibly cool older brother is really good at what he does.  He is a natural leader, persuader, and hard worker.  So when his wife, Susan, called me up and […]

Watchman on the Walls…

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, BUT I WILL HOLD THE WATCHMAN ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS BLOOD.”(33:6)  My eyes froze upon these […]

Servant of All….

You know, sometimes, I get so ambitious and want to have such a big impact on the world for Christ. I want to be used in mighty ways to make His Name known, to bring lost hurting people into His family, to be a beacon of truth and light to the confused, dark, and broken […]

For My Baby Boy-Benjamin Zion

Today I pulled out Benjamin’s “Baby’s First Year” calendar.  I had to peel it from the shelf because somehow, in the past SEVEN MONTHS and the heat and humidity of the summer,  it had adhesed to the shelf.  I hadn’t written in it since January or put a picture in it since November of last […]

A Night with the Giants

David Tyree, #85 of the New York Giants. We first met him several years ago when he came to speak at an evangelistic breakfast in Newark -David played for the Giants and that was a BIG deal for our teens and young adult men. We were so thankful for his willingness to use his platform […]

A Whirlwind Tour Up the East Coast

There IS a good reason why I have not blogged in over a month…the reason being a whirlwind tour up the East Coast.  Here’s a little play-by-play on our frantic, but blessed travels -more posts will come relating the incredible things the Lord did and taught us along the way. June 20 -Danny leaves to […]

“But seek the Shalom of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its Shalom you will find your Shalom.”

Meet the Authors

Danny and Kimberly Iverson

Danny and Kimberly Iverson met while in college and fell in love 3 years later while Danny was leading an inner-city ministry in Newark, NJ. Their hearts for the disinvested spaces of society, and the conviction of God’s love and redemptive purposes for such places, drew them together on mission and continues to be a driving force as they follow God’s calling to discover and display an expression of the body of Christ that is focused on reconciliation and renewal. They love being on mission with their family of eight children – Daniel Josiah, Trinity, Katy-Grace, Benjamin Zion, Malachi, Judah, Gwennalyn and Joel. They currently live in Atlanta, GA and are sharing life with their neighbors and leading a house church and community development organization called Restore Life.  Sign up to receive their newsletter.
